The Battle of Gettysburg was the battle with the largest number of casualties in the American Civil War. It is often described as the wars turning point .The battle of Gettysburg was fought July 1-3 1863. It occurred onto the Northern soil of Pennsylvania. General George Gordon Meade's defeated attacks by Confederate General Robert E.Lee's Army of Virginia. It ended Lee's invasion of North. The two major generals were George G.Meade, and Robert E. Lee. He wanted to threaten Northern cities. The two Armies suffered 46,000 and 51,000 casualties. Union casualties were 23,055. The onset of the monsoons drove the Confederate, half-spirited, out of Gettysburg. After the battle, Union victory in the American Civil War was
