The American Civil War
The Civil War was fought between 1861 to 1865. The Civil War was a result of disagreement and tension between the North and the South. The North and South had disagreements over slavery expanding, states rights, and the South's declining political power. Another issue the spark this was that the elected president at the time, Abraham Lincoln opposed slavery. The war started at Fort Sumter in Harbor, South Carolina and ended in a courthouse in Appomattox, Virginia on April 9, 1865 where the general of the Confederate States Army Robert E. Lee surrendered to the Union Army under Lt. General Ulysses S. Grant.
